Reopening the Club to COVID Safe Wednesday Night Meetings

posted Apr 3, 2021, 7:13 PM by Barry W   [ updated Apr 3, 2021, 7:14 PM ]

The Committee is please to announce that we are going to reopen the Club to Wednesday night meetings. The Club has had its COVID safe plan approved by NSW Health, obtained a QR code and is working towards implementing the plan. Things will be different and members will be expected to cooperate with the Club in implementing our COVID safe plan.

The first Wednesday night will be February 17th at 7pm. It is for members only as we work through the requirements of our COVID safe plan. On the night:-

  • Every person is expected to register using the QR code. If your phone is not capable of reading a QR code we will have alternate arrangements
  • The meeting will be held outside. If it rains on the night we will cancel the meeting
  • Hand sanitiser will be available
  • Strict social distancing will be in place. COVID marshals will be enforcing social distancing rules
  • We will have a BBQ but it will be run in a COVID safe manner. Members will place their order, leave the BBQ area and have their name called when their order is ready
  • Refreshments will be available again with social distancing measures in place.
  • There will be a raffle and lucky member draw.
  • If you wish to sit down please BYO folding chair. Chairs will not be removed from inside the club for use outside
Reopening the Club is subject to the current restrictions being maintained. As we are all aware with COVID, things can change rapidly and undertaking meetings is dependent on the current government restrictions. The initial meetings will be very informal but hopefully going forward, if restrictions ease further, we can get back to some kind of normal.

If you are unwell or have associated with any person who has contact with COVID please do not attend.

Businesses are subject to heavy fines for breaches of COVID safe rules. Our Club could be subject to a $10,000 fine if found in breach of COVID rules. All members will be required to follow the instructions of the COVID marshals and the Committee. Any person who fails to follow our COVID safe plan will be asked to leave and escorted off the Club grounds. With the shared pathway our meeting will be under external scrutiny and we need to be seen to be doing the right thing.

We will need some volunteers to help with running the night. If you would like to help out in reopening the Club please get in contact. Without some volunteers we wont be able to run our Wednesday night meetings.

Please keep an eye on your emails as we get closer to our reopening date for any updates.

Looking forward to catching up with you

Andrew Mernagh

When using the ramp area launch your boat or retrieve your boat and leave the area. If there more than 4 members cleaning fish at the cleaning tables, please wait until a member leaves then clean your fish. The Committee will be monitoring the use of the ramp and cleaning facilities and will not hesitate to close the facilities should social distancing rules not be adhered to.

The Committee is committed to ensure that members can still keep fishing whilst the government still allows us to.

We are also want to ensure members still feel part of a fishing club. To ensure you get your regular fishing club fix the club will: -

a) Still send you the monthly magazine. If you wish to receive the magazine via email rather than post just contact us at and we will send you a copy.
b) We will be regularly posting on our Facebook site. If you are not on Facebook you can access the site via or visit our web page, and see posts there.

Keep sending us pictures of your fish and stories for our magazine. If there are topics you would like us to discuss or inform people of please send these in to .

In these uncertain times when we are being separated from not only our fishing buddies but also family and friends it is important that we support each other in anyway we can and our shared love of fishing is one way we can do that.

Stay Healthy

The club’s Fishing Committee has made the following change to the club’s competition fishing rules for the competition year which runs from 1st September 2015 to 31st August 2016.

The total weigh-in bag limit is now 20 fish.  You can still go out and catch as many fish as DPI Fisheries allows you, but only 20 fish may be weighed in for our championship and mid week competitions.

In accordance with the club’s constitution, the change was put to members at the general meeting on Wednesday 26th August 2015 and approved overwhelmingly by the meeting.
