Committee,

2022 crab and lure day.

Weather permitting we are trying something different. Sunday 27th November we are combining our lure day with a crab day.

The plan is simple. You can start putting you crab pots out from Friday 25th November and search for crabs right up to the weigh in time of 12pm Sunday 27th. There will be prizes for the heaviest bag of 5 Blue swimmers as well as heaviest single Blue swimmer or Mud Crab.

Sunday 27th November will also be our Lure Day. Fishing starts 4am Sunday with a weigh in at 12pm Sunday. The lure comp will run like an open style fishing day using the clubs sliding point scale system with a maximum of 10 fish allowed for weigh in. Where available photos on brag matts will be allowed.

This is designed as a social day so family members are encouraged to fish or at least come to the weigh in. All crabs submitted for the weigh in will be donated for the cook up. The club will also cater this event with Prawns, Rolls, Chicken and salad as well as the cooked crab but you MUST register to be catered for.

Please contact the Fishing secretary John Taylforth to register for this event 0405 601 169.

Woolooware Shores Fishing Day

What a great morning and privilege for the members of the StGeorge & Sutherland Shire Anglers to pay it forward and take the residents from Woolooware Shores out on the bay for a mornings fishing trip. Thank you to all that joined in from the boat Captains to the ground crew.  It would not have happened without you.  Thank you also to Tweed bait for sponsoring the day and suppling good quality bait.

Check out Facebook for more pics of this great day!

Reminder Boat Ramp Closure

Boat Ramp Closed for Channel Dredging Thursday 15th Sept to Friday 23rd.  (ITS NOW BACK OPEN)

We now have dates for dredging the channel. The Committee along with Phil Targett having been working hard to get the Club Channel dredged to allow access in all tides. Having gained approval from the relevant authorities, we have now selected a contractor and the dredging works will be undertaken in September subject to suitable weather conditions. In order to comply with the environmental requirements of our approval the contractor will putting in silt booms which will mean access to the channel will be blocked for the duration of the works. Also the contractors heavy equipment will be present making the area unsafe for people to access. Therefore the Club boat ramp will be closed from Thursday 15th September to Friday 23rd Sept inclusive. Members are asked not to try to access club ramp during this time.

Once the Channel is dredged Members will be able to enjoy better access to Botany Bay.

Should weather conditions postpone the dredging works members will be informed of a new date.

If Members have any questions regarding the closing of the ramp please get in touch with a committee member.

The Committee thanks members for their co-operation during this period.

Reopening the Club to COVID Safe Wednesday Night Meetings

posted Apr 4, 2021, 12:13 PM by Barry W   [ updated Apr 4, 2021, 12:14 PM ]

The Committee is please to announce that we are going to reopen the Club to Wednesday night meetings. The Club has had its COVID safe plan approved by NSW Health, obtained a QR code and is working towards implementing the plan. Things will be different and members will be expected to cooperate with the Club in implementing our COVID safe plan.

The first Wednesday night will be February 17th at 7pm. It is for members only as we work through the requirements of our COVID safe plan. On the night:-

Reopening the Club is subject to the current restrictions being maintained. As we are all aware with COVID, things can change rapidly and undertaking meetings is dependent on the current government restrictions. The initial meetings will be very informal but hopefully going forward, if restrictions ease further, we can get back to some kind of normal.

If you are unwell or have associated with any person who has contact with COVID please do not attend.

Businesses are subject to heavy fines for breaches of COVID safe rules. Our Club could be subject to a $10,000 fine if found in breach of COVID rules. All members will be required to follow the instructions of the COVID marshals and the Committee. Any person who fails to follow our COVID safe plan will be asked to leave and escorted off the Club grounds. With the shared pathway our meeting will be under external scrutiny and we need to be seen to be doing the right thing.

We will need some volunteers to help with running the night. If you would like to help out in reopening the Club please get in contact. Without some volunteers we wont be able to run our Wednesday night meetings.

Please keep an eye on your emails as we get closer to our reopening date for any updates.

Looking forward to catching up with you

Andrew Mernagh

President
